Why choose us to be your partner in consigning?

Prior Attire is the longest established resale shop in Cleveland since 1999.  We are the only NARTS(National Association of Resale Shops) member in the area; committing to honorable business behavior and adhering to the code of ethics signifying professionalism, fair dealing, & high integrity.  We regularly advertise in local periodicals, radio, television, and local exhibit shows.  A monthly e-newsletter is sent out to thousands of customers.  We are one of the few retail stores still offering layaway service.  Customers may join our wish list and receive a call when you bring in their favorite items.  All major credit cards are accepted, and gift certificates are available.  Inventory turnover rate is extremely high & we have had consistent success selling consigned items @ the best price for both consignor & shopper.

Consignment Procedure

Go through your closets & take out the following:  Items you will never wear again, never worn, too small, too big, toooo not you!  Bring us those new or “like new” items, our staff will go over them and let you know what we can sell for you & for what price.   An itemized list is available for the items you consign.

What We Accept For Consignment

• We accept men, women, & teen clothing no older than 2 years, in excellent condition, and in fashion. Our customers are looking for better department store and designer labels.  Please refer to our label guidelines.
• We accept casual, professional, & formal attire.  We also take shoes, bags, belts, & jewelry.
• Concentrate on the current season or the “just around the corner” upcoming season.  Our customers want to shop for what they can wear now.  We can’t hold your fall items in April, we just don’t have the space!  Clothes sell quickly and at better prices when the season is right.

• We can’t sell items that are wrinkled, or stained in any way.  Items should be recently cleaned, pressed, & on hangers.  Bring in your handbags, shoes, & accessories in a shopping bag with your name written on the shopping bag.

Trading For A New Wardrobe!

When you bring your items in you will have two options to choose from:
Trade:  Don’t wait for items to sell and get more for your items! For every item we accept, whether they sell or not, you will receive 30%-50% of the full price of the item.  Trade credits are for shopping only and cannot be issued as a check.
Consigning:  You will receive 40% of the selling price for items sold after they sell.  Your account may be used for shopping in our store or you may request a check at anytime.

Highlights of Consignor Agreement

• Computerized accounting.
• Consignor may either call Prior Attire to check on account balances or check them conveniently online.
• Account balances may be claimed at anytime.  Come in to the store & we will print you a check or a check may be mailed to you upon request.
• We offer your items to our customers for 60 days.
• Consignors may pick-up unsold items or choose to have them donated to local charities.
• Prior Attire sets pricing to meet the current market demands.
• Consignor will receive  40% of price sold.  Designer items and specialty items may be consigned at a higher % rates determined by Prior Attire.

Drop Off Procedure

Dropping off is easy. Bring in your items as stated above to our drop off counter.  You may wait while we go through your items, but if you’re short on time, then you will find our Drop & Run service very convenient.  Select whether you would like us to DONATE to charity or SAVE for pick-up any items we cannot use. Your drop & run will be processed by noon the next business day.  SAVE items should be picked up by consignor within 3 days.  An inventory list will be provided.  Items are accepted Monday through Thursday 11 to 5 with no appointment necessary.  Evening & weekend drop offs are welcomed by appointment.

Label Guidelines

Please keep in mind the following list is just a guideline. It does not represent what we exclusively accept. Prior Attire does have a demand for other brands that are not listed. This list was formed from our experience of what sells best at Prior Attire.
